So you stumbled your way into our little corner of the internet and may be wondering what the heck is BLAB and how we got here... First off, we are so happy you found us! If you made it this far, we must have said something that you found interesting or relatable, and that means we are doing exactly what BLAB was created to do... connect with other women!
I'm Megan, and my bestie Mikki and I are so happy to get to know you! I wanted to share this story with you to give you a little bit of insight on how our special space came to be!
It all started one cold November day when I found out I was going to have my first baby. I had been watching Mikki kick booty at motherhood, and though becoming a mama was always on my "to-do" list (you will soon find out that I'm a major list gal), I was busy climbing my way up in my career. When I decided I was ready to take on the new role as "mama", things started to get a little messy. Beyond all of the excitement, worry, relief that I actually got pregnant, and a million other mom-to-be emotions, I realized that once this baby got here things would never be the same! How in the heck was I going to be able to keep working to accomplish my dreams as a Realtor while also being the full time, at home, mama I always dreamed of being. Was this is even possible? And what if it wasn't? What was I going to have to compromise on? And how was I possibly going to be able to do it all?... Well, 2 years later and I still don't know the answers to most of those questions, but one thing I did know was there is no way I was alone in these feelings! I knew (well, hoped really) that other women HAD to be feeling this way, and felt called to do something about it! So, I picked up the phone and reached out to my bestie, an amazing experienced mama, to talk it over and suddenly... Boss Ladies and Babies (are BLAB) was born!
Mikki has been a mom for years, and also runs a small embroidery business from home. She has this mama thing down, and with experience as an entrepreneur as well, I knew she was the only person that could help make this vision a reality. Besides, who doesn't want to start a passion project with their bestie? It all just felt so right! I, on the other hand, had no idea what motherhood was going to be like, but had been working for myself full time for years.
Though we have been besties for over half of our lives, Mikki and I are so different in so many ways. We fill in each other's weaknesses with our strengths, and we knew right away that together we had something to offer to so many women! So, without much planning at all, we picked up the mic (aka iPhone at my dining room table) and pressed record! Just like that, we became Podcast hosts, and haven't looked back since. In fact, we have been snowballing ever since...growing and adding resources to the women of our community every chance we get! Our podcast and community have turned into a full on business with tools and resources, coaching, programs, products, an upcoming book, and so much more!
If you've listened to our show, you know that we try to keep things real. We share the "highs and lows" of our lives, businesses, and motherhood, and don't hold back! Our little BLAB is growing just as quickly as our children, and is morphing into such a beautiful community of women coming together and relating to each other on so many different levels. It really is so much more than just the Podcast it started with! It's a community, a shoulder to cry on, the friend you can vent to without fear of judgement, a drinking buddy, a cheerleader, an accountability partner, your favorite customer, a collective hot mess, and a constant reminder that you're not alone.
